Position: General Manager-Yunesit’in Development Enterprise (YDE) Classification:Full-time, Permanent position . 40 hours per week Salary:$90,000-$100,000 annually depending on experience . Location:Williams Lake, BC with travel to Yunesit’in, Hanceville BC- 1 hour from Williams Lake, BC Closing Date: Until Filled The Yunesit’in Development Enterprise (YDE) is currently seeking an experiencedGeneral Manager . The candidate will be responsible for carrying out general maintenance work . Planning, managing budgets, and leading forestry projects . Providing valuations on timber, trees and land . Liaising with woodland owners, timber merchants, contractors, customers, and the general public . The YDE was developed after the 2017 Wildfires and carries out many economic activities, including local contracts, fire crews, fencing, silviculture, and forest harvesting. The Yunesit’in Nation is a First Nations community located West of Williams Lake. They are a part of the Tsilhqot’in Nation, which is made up of six communities that share a common language and culture. The Yunesit’in Nation continues to assert their rights and protect their land. They are actively involved in resource management decisions that affect their territory, striving to maintain a balance between economic development and environmental sustainability. Preference will be given to those of Aboriginal Ancestry- Section 16(1) Canadian Human Rights Act. Key Responsibilities * Forest and cutting permit development; * Silviculture planning and implementation; * Forest license management; * Oversee and analyze operations operations; * Recommend operational changes to senior management when necessary to ensure that production quotas and procedures are met; * Plan and manage the departments budgets; * Evaluate efficiency of production sites to determine adequacy of personnel, equipment and technologies used, and make changes to work schedule or equipment when necessary; * Ensure adherence to safety regulations; * Hire personnel and oversee training needs of employees; * Wildfire crew development and management; * Ensure proper maintenance, preparation, supplies and operations of all tools and equipment being used; * Other duties as assigned.Preferred Requirements * Registered Professional Forester (British Columbia) * Former experience working with a First Nation organization. * Strong problem-solving skills. * Previous logging experience. * Knowledge of Forestry and Silviculture. * Minimum Grade 12. * Budget and Invoicing experience. * HR and conflict resolution experience. * Strong interpersonal and communication skills; and the ability to build strong relationships with community members. * Ability to work independently and as a team. * Level 1 First Aid. * Clear driving record and a Valid BC driver’s license. Working Conditions * Travel will be required. * Overtime as required. * All types of weather. * Frequent walking, standing, climbing. * Lifting or moving up to 50lbs may be required.
